The Pamlico Writers Group presents as part of its 2019 programming the writing workshop, We Need a Hero: Writing Firefighters and First-Responders. This workshop is geared toward writers of any level who are interested in crafting and developing authentic characters who serve as firefighters,  search and rescue personnel, rescue scuba divers, and other first-responders.  Get the details right for your story with this workshop!  From uniforms and equipment to terminology, chains of command, and procedures,  this is an opportunity to learn how these everyday heroes perform their jobs,  engage with other agencies,  and sacrifice to serve their communities.

Our speaker is Blake Hollister.  Hollister serves as a firefighter with Aurora and Blounts Creek Volunteer Fire Departments, and is a member of the Emergency Response Team with Nutrien.  He is also a member of the Search and Rescue Team for Pamlico County Special Operations.

The workshop will be held in the historic Turnage Theater in downtown Washington,  NC, and on Saturday,  August 17, 2019, from 1:30 to 4:30.  The registration fee is $15 for PWG members and $20 for non-members.
