The Dreaded Query Letter
 and

Searching for an Agent

in a Match.com World

I started writing and sending out query letters and manuscripts when everyone still demanded the use of snail mail. In those early days searching for agents and publishers who would take on an unknown author were difficult to find. Writers Digest published an annual book on publishers and agents. I invested in one, did research, sent letters, partial manuscripts and even had a little interest but no real success.

Now with the popularity of the internet this process has become easier and more difficult. It has become easier for con artist to claim they can help you publish your book for a nominal fee. Be wary of these agents that make promises but I'm getting ahead of myself.

You have written a book. You have it ready to publish. It has been critiqued, edited, and turned inside out. Now you have to decide if you want to self publish or sell to one of the larger publishing houses? Do you need an agent? If you self or Indie Publish why would you need an agent? What can an agent do for you and how do you get one?

The dreaded query letter, synopsis and formatting instructions! Oh my!
Writing the book was the easiest part! It not as bad as you think. If I can do it, you can to!
