Exploring the Writer's Voice

Our fourth annual conference theme emphasizes the importance of voice in all aspects of writing.

We have a Friday night reception and a full day of Saturday sessions in the historic Turnage Theater, surrounded by restaurants and one street from the beautiful Pamlico River waterfront.

The Friday night reception ($10) is open to the public and conference participants. There will be hors d'oeuvres, an opportunity to PITCH THE PUBLISHER (present your work to a publisher for an additional $10) and read your works during an on Open Mic period. The evening highlight is keynote speaker:

Sharyn McCrumb

The all-day Saturday event ($49) will begin with a panel discussion followed by sessions led by panel members. After lunch (on your own at restaurants around the theater), there will be a General Discussion during which publishers will answer questions from the audience. Two more groups of sessions led by professionals in the writing field will follow. The day will end with the Writers Competition Awards ceremony, hors d'oeuvre, and a last opportunity to purchase books and socialize.
